Anita
Parra, DVM, Medical Director
Anita Parra completed her undergraduate
studies at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana in
1979. She then went on to graduate from Purdue
University with her DVM degree in 1983. Dr. Parra initially
worked at a mixed animal practice in West Virginia for two
years followed by working in a strictly small animal clinic
in Illinois. In 1988 she made her way westward to settle
in Ojai, CA in order to pursue her interest in Emergency
Medicine. Once the Central Coast Pet Emergency Clinic was
opened in October 1997, Dr. Parra elected to relocate to the
beautiful Central Coast and continue working as an associate
Emergency Veterinarian. Dr. Parra's passion and interest in
horses, large animals and cats and dogs continues to this
day as she has 3 horses, 2 goats, 14 cats and 1 dog. She
currently co-owns CCPEC with her partner Roxane McKenna, DVM
and they have recently completed a renovation and expansion
of the clinic to its current 4,000 square feet in order to
better serve the surrounding referral base in the ever
changing and challenging field of veterinary emergency and
critical care |

Roxane
McKenna, DVM, Medical Director
Roxane McKenna moved to
the Central Coast in 1984 to pursue her undergraduate degree
in Biochemistry from Cal Poly, SLO. After graduating from
Cal Poly in 1990, she was accept to and completed her
veterinary degree from UC Davis School of Veterinary
Medicine in 1994. She originally practiced Mixed Animal
Medicine in the Central Valley for 2 years then returned
home to the Central Coast to practice Small Animal Medicine
exclusively. In October 1997, she had a unique opportunity
to begin working at the then newly opened Central Coast Pet
Emergency Clinic in Arroyo Grande where she has remained as
a staff veterinarian. She enjoys the challenges of Small
Animal Emergency Medicine and is a long time member of good
standing in the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care
Society. She lives with her husband and 4 cats enjoying all
that living on the Central Coast has to offer. |
John
Angus, DVM, DACVD
Dr. Angus graduated from University of
California Davis in 1994. After obtaining
his degree in Veterinary Medicine, he worked
in a private small animal and emergency
practice for five years. Dr. Angus completed
his residency in dermatology at the
University of Illinois and became a
Diplomate in the American College of
Veterinary Dermatology in 2003. He remained
at the University as a visiting clinical
professor until 2004, where he received
recognition as a teacher of excellence. Dr.
Angus joined Animal Dermatology Clinic in
2007 and sees patients in Pasadena, CA.
Dr. Angus has written extensively for
journals, veterinary textbooks, and is
frequently invited to speak at national and
international conferences. Currently Dr.
Angus serves as a member of the ACVD
Education Committee and is on the editorial
boards for the Journal of the American
Animal Hospital Association and Veterinary
Dermatology, the official journal of the
European Society of Veterinary Dermatology.
